Shovel Jet Sweep

Does anybody here use the Shovel Jet Sweep like Holgerson? The youtube video of WVU running it looks great but I have mixed feelings on it. I feel it's definitely safer because if you drop it it's an incomplete pass vs. regular jet sweep being a fumble. But I think it would also be more difficult to...

Re: PK

Instead of having your slot arc to the safety have him block the OLB. Then if you get the Give read he should be off to the races. If they change it up and try to tackle the dive you can still pitch off the safety.

Re: Vs. 5-3

I like trips and empty vs. 5-3 and I LOVE triple screen vs 5-3.

Re: Triple Gun Passing Game has been really good this summer

We had a tag out of trips and empty that had the boot side #1 run a comeback and #2 ran a corner. That way the qb was able to read it the same way as before, it just changes whose getting to the deep outside and whose in the comeback area.

Re: tips on ol getting out of a 2 pt stance

Absolutely squeeze the knees! And keep the weight on the inside of their feet, this helps get them to fire-off the ball. To eliminate false steps we will put a board behind the offensive lineman's heels during stance and start drills. If they false step they step on the board and know they screwed u...

Re: Numbering System

We used a no-huddle system so we either called our plays with wristbands or simply yelling in the play with our code system. We teach the plays as a concept (no numbers). So we had "Triple Right", "Speed Option Left", and so on. Our no-huddle terminology took me an entire off-season to come up with ...

Coach Demeo,

I really appreciate it. And I will probably be taking you up on that offer for a reference.

Thanks again,

Re: 6-1/4-3 aggressive defense?

I think Triple should work fine against this D. There's been a number of posts on here that talk about cracking the safety if they play man, that way the corner chases and you get two defenders out of the pitch phase with just one blocker. I'm also a big fan of Triple Screen against teams who like t...

Re: What to do with dual 2 techs

I know I'm very late to the party on this post but I've been away from the forum for a long time and I'm trying to catch up on every post I missed. We handle dual 2-techniques exactly opposite from what Coach Smith does. We treat the playside as a 3-technique (widen the guard) and the backside as a ...

Re: slice tag

Darin Slack's "R4" DVD's are great resources for this type of thing. He doesn't use the time of each route but instead classifies all routes as "Rhythm", "Read", and "Rush" routes. All rhythm routes are 3-steps and throw. Read routes are 3-step hitch and throw....and rush routes are 3-steps, hitch, ...
