1/2 Reverse

Post by cometcoach » Thu Jul 18, 2013 3:36 pm

I would like some ideas on how to get this play going. Every time we ran the play it was blown up from the backside LB or DE.

1-Scheme and coaching points vs 3-3 and 4-4 is what we see most often.

2-How do you drill it?

I think my backside guard didn't get out as fast as needed to make the play go. I also think we may have run it too fast and not given the play time to develop.

Thoughts?

I had to tweak the play to my kids also. I run my O with my RB offset, a blocking back lined up in front of him between G & T (though a slot alignment would work), and my motion back as a slot on the backside. My OL blocks outside zone up front, but the backside tackle pulls to lead. QB fakes to RB who blocks EMLOS, blocking back steps outside and spins around (timing purposes mostly). After the QB fakes to the RB he hands it off to the blocking back away from the LOS which gives the back the depth necessary to read the tackle's block (if he had to kick force or if we got the edge).
