PLAYS off Half Reverse

Post by td4tc » Sun Nov 03, 2013 10:45 pm

we run half reverse so often (its so easy and safe don't consider it a trick play) that we need plays off this look for teams that try to overplay it

Just discovered a little beauty where we do everything like normal reverse to the left but after faking the mesh to the right we fake the reverse pitch left (slot puts his hands up and yells reverse) and Q continues on and runs double option to the right optioning the OLB for pitch.we block the HOK.Anybody ever try this?

Other one we do is reverse pass.

Any others off this look?

Yes. Coach we do a version of that and just ran triple but obviously without the seal block by the play side slot. I really like that little wrinkle on it. That's a nice touch. I know Trojan Joe has the slot in motion continue out in front and he throws a pass to him. It's on here somewhere probably in the passing game section.

We finally got this play going this year and should have used it much much more this season. It helped when I finally started blocking it right.

thanks. Tried trojanjoe's "wheel" and our double option out of fake half reverse and both worked great this week. Half Reverse is the simplest and most effective "trick" play we have run in many years of being a Demeo disciple. I wouldn't hesitate to run it multiple times a game

So much so, that we now need these plays off of it

On the half reverse...is it a pitch or a handoff to the frontside slot?

We pitch it but I have seen guys on here on game clips will hand it off. If you do pitch it's a really soft pitch and give it some air. Basically after the mesh with the TB flip it up soft in the air and let the slot whirl around (this slows him down and times up perfect) and take the ball out of the air. Coaching point. Use jump motion to the right to help sell the option to the right if running 1/2 reverse left. Make sure you don't block the Backside DE it really screws the play up when you do this. Meaning if you run 1/2 reverse left don't block the left DE he needs to come down the line flat for the play to really go.
