? About Navy option v Notre Dame

Post by willf » Mon Nov 03, 2014 9:18 pm

Coach Demeo,
I saw Navy run an option that appeared to be a loop scheme triple against Notre Dame but I realized it was a double option. The play side tackle would arc around the handoff key and seal the OLB, the quarterback would then fake to the B back and pitch off the handoff key. The play side A back was arc blocking the triple pitch key. Are you familiar with this play?

Will

We've made a living doing this over the years.
When we pitch off the HOK we call it Speed Option.
It's been featured in some Plays of the Day.
It's also one of the Double Options featured in our newest Triple Gun DVD

Coach,

I have seen the speed option on your clips. When you were under center did you ride fake the B-back first and have him block the inside LB like Navy was doing? Also the arc of the PSOT was new to me.
