THIS WEEKEND'S GAMES TO WATCH

Post by TDdemeo » Thu Nov 10, 2011 10:15 am

Coaches,
Another slate of great games to watch this weekend. The PennSt./JoPa situation has definately put a damper on this week - so I'm reserving my opinion until ALL the facts are in. I feel sad for ALL involved.

Ga. Tech vs VPI - Bud Foster has done a good job in the past handling the option - expect him to be in an 8 man front with the FS filling hard. Paul Johnson has to exploit this with play action pass. The key for Ga.Tech is to stuff the Hokies "O" and to not get destroyed in special teams. Ball Security & not giving up a non - offensive TD are the keys for Ga.Tech.

UK at Vandy - A huge game for The 'Dores - they have come close against 3 very good SEC teams. James Franklin has brought Vandy to the cusp of a breakout game - this could be it.High % passes & productive runs are key for VU on "O" plus they need to play good "D" & get a big play or 2 from their special teams.

WVU at UC - The Big East Title is looming for one of these teams. Butch Jones has done a great job bringing UC along. WVU must do a better job on special teams to get a "W" all those yards are meaningless if you turn the ball over & give up non-offensive TDs. Look for UC to use their TE & inside run game to control the clock.

Auburn - Ga. - 2 teams that are a little over-hyped. This will come down to defense. UGA held Fla. to -19 yards rushing - Aub. must run the ball to set up Malzahn's Play Action Pass Game.

Oregon at Stanford - A classic match up. Potential for a real shoot out. If you like offense this is the game to see. The key to the Game is The Ducks ability to run the ball & hit play action passes. DeAnthony Thomas could too much for The Cardinal defense. The Cards have Luck on their side but must control the clock to keep Kelly's "O" off the field. Luck must make every possession productive because the Ducks are looking for 16 possessions.

These are some of the great games this weekend. Hope you enjoy them all.
Take Care
Tony

really look forward to your weekly "games to watch" ..have made a few sheckles betting on some of your suggestions including your comments about Vtech this week and my new favorite team to bet on Vandy..amazing how many times your "significant stats"(eg +2 turnovers etc) are borne out by the scores and results.

have loved Oregon ever since Chip got there(how could you not if you're an offensive guy) but they are in over their heads against Lucky and the power game of Stanford with studs on both sides of the ball..oregon's two major offensive threats have been nicked up and probably aren't 100%...heart says Ducks but wallet says Stanford.
